So yes, it has very little to do with components, but more for the care of them. I haven't been on my computer for about 2 weeks, and see a nice little layer of dust. I used to take wet bounty and just wipe it across my desk and keyboard, but its too much work because I have to continuously rinse it to get the dirt out and what not...

Anyone have a dusting product that is good at collecting dust? I have a huge dust problem, I actually cover my chassis and monitor with plastic bags... it helps a little... I was thinking more like static cloth or feather dusters, but I haven't had any luck finding these [that are reusable anyway].

Any suggestions? something that is safe running on the outside of my aluminum brushed cm stacker 830 maybe?

I use a 2" med-soft paint brush on my key-board, clean in less than a minute. Thought about using a feather dust but was afraid of little pieces that come off causing problems.
Pledge works well on the case, and I use the brush on the faceplate in between waxings.
If I'm going to be away from my computer for a few days I through a beech towel over everything.

can you tell me what kinda of pledge wipes you use?would you know of a static-reusable cloth that i could use on my desk?

I never tried the wipes, I use a spray and lint free clothe. Rubbing the wax in with one side flipping it over and buffing it with the dry side so it doesn't leave a residue for dust to cling to.

in bestbuy they have those canisters with pressurized air

Ya, I use canned air inside the case, but you wonna make sure that you don't shake the can or you'll spray moisture on your componants. Plus if you use it to clean inside be sure and stop fans from spinning. The blast of air can make them spin to fast and damage the windings.

i know, i also have compressed air, but i ONLY use it on the cracks between the keys on my keyboard, and inside the case... i usually have a vacuum hose in hand to catch most of that floating dust... but thats the problem with canned air, it just blows the dust, only for it to settle again.

so a pledge spray? can you give me a title or something? a spray with a antistatic lint-free cloth or something?

Good old fashioned Lemon Pledge furniture polish in an aerosole can, just make sure you shut-down your machine and don't spray into any place it can go inside to gum anything up. For the faceplate I spray directly on to my clothe, then flip it over to the dry side buffing it out.

For a clothe I use Cheese-Clothe, it's lint free. Not sure about the static-free aspect, but I'm only using it on the outside.

PS: Don't use it on your monitor screen!! On an LCD use only warm water. Might be OK on an CRT, but I recomend rubbing alcohol.
