I need help with overclocking ati hd 4890

im kinda disappointed that my ati hd 4890 isn't strong enough to max out borderlands can u guys give me good overclocking setting using ati castilist ooverdrive and i am a n00b at overclocking and i dont have a addtional fan but my grahics card has a fan on it

Your 4890 is a factory-oc'd 4870. So now, open CCC, select ATI Overdirve. Enable it. Press on the Auto-Tune button. Leave it alone until it is finished. Save the settings in a new profile. Be ready to reduce the settings later - you'll likely see artifacts if you try to play at the CCC Auto-Tuned settings. Reduce the GPU and Memory clocks settings until the artifacts are gone from the game screen.

Well it is a feature of CCC that ATI added to help us overclock our ATI GPUs. Not all GPU and memory chips are exactly the same, even if they were manufactured in the same batch. CCC Overdrive Auto-Tune automatically increases the clock speeds of the GPU and the memory, tests for stability and stops when it reaches the highest stable overclock, leaving the GPU clock and Memory clock at the last highest stable OC. It also works on multiple crossfired GPUs. CCC doesn't let you increase the voltage, so it won't hurt your GPU. Try it.

Did you try the CCC Auto-Tune? In looking at yours and the HP specs, your board has an Intel G33 Express chipset running an E5200 CPU at 2.5GHz. Your GPU is far more capable than your CPU. You may want to review your system manual, paying particular attention to the BIOS settings/options, and then post a request for help OCing your CPU in the Overclocking Forum (I could help OCing DFI boards, but have no experience with HPs).

OCing really BIOS-specific. If the BIOS doesn't have the options you need to change board, CPU, and RAM voltages, FSB frequencies, and memory strap/divider settings, you won't be able to OC the board/CPU. Good luck!
