Hi can anyone give me some advice on overclocking my Q6600. I am lookin to overclock to 3.0 GHz to start with but am unsure of a few things.

Just want to know if I need to change any voltages and Ram settings.

Asus P5K-E WIFI-AP EDITION
Intel core 2 quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
Nvidia BFG GTX 285 1024 mb ddr3
4 GB ddr2 1066
BFG es series 800w psu
Windows 7 home premium 32bit

If your memory settings are on AUTO, you need to change them also. For a 333 MHz FSB frequency, your memory clock needs to run at twice that or 667 MHz. I am unfamiliar with the Asus BIOS, so I do not know what settings to change.

An FSB:RAM ratio is 333 MHz:667 MHz (DDR2 transfers two chunks of data each bus cycle). This lets the FSB:RAM run synchronomously (in step with each other).

We discuss that here:

leave voltages on 'auto' (if they are already on auto). these are the 'safe' settings i.e. the lowest voltage settings. shouldn't need to increase voltages to get to 3.0.
