Alright, about three years ago me and a buddy threw together a comp that had the following parts:
Asus p4p800-e deluxe mobo
2x 1g kingston ram
3 ghz P4
MSI NX6800 Vid card
Generic 100gb HD
450wt psu
About six months ago, the mobo went kaputs and i opted to replace it with a energy-478 intel865i cause i didnt have the money to revamp the whole unit. This mobo had issues with the PSU so i picked up a 465w psu that fixed everything. Now the problem, one of the fan blades on the vid card got hungup on the shroud around it stalling out the fan and burning out the motor. i went a picked up a HIS Radeon HD 2600XT and the techy told me it should work in my board. I uninstalled all of the drivers from the old card and stuck in the new card. When i go to power up the fan on the card runs, but i have no video. Also, sometimes it will sound as if the comp is booting up and the next time it sounds as if it is not doing anything. If i stick in the old card and boot everything works fine other than the card overheats after a while.
So i guess wat im asking is if anyone knows of a compatibility issue with this vid-card and board or if there is something im missing. I followed the instructions provided for installing it and it still doesnt work. There are two jumpers on the card but i cannot find anywhere in the instructions or on the web wat they do. The Video card says it is recommended to have a 450w psu or better which i have covered. I have also tried unplugging both DVD drives to see if they were causing a power loss or somthing but still didnt work. The only thing i havent tried yet that i can think of is reseting the CMOS.
