Can anyone tell me the difference between these two? I don't do much gaming so is it worth it for me to get the more expensive one or will the regular 9800 be good enough for me?
Oh and then there's even another called 9800GTX +SSC. So there is the 9800GT, the 9800GTX+, and the 9800GTX+SSC. I'm so confused in deciding which one to get.
^I think it's about a 10% performance increase from the 16 more shaders and slightly higher clocks. Don't worry too much about the SSC version, which just means "super clocked" and the manufacturer charging more for something you can easily do yourself if you just install Rivatuner and raise slider bars to increase the clockspeed.
But can you elaborate on what "much" is and what resolution your screen is? Because if you only play older/simpler games on a 1280x1024 screen, and money is an object, a cheaper 4670 would probably be more than enough.
depands how much u want to spend, the GTX+ really is just minmal advantage. i would get a 9800gt now, great card play most games on max at 1920x1200. If you want higher res or more future proof get a 260gtx
hi guys, in have sort of the same problem only mind is i have a Alhena5 motherbord with a biult in video card & i want to upgrade it, i browse thru the internet looking for a compatible video card & found this nvidia geforce 9000 gt series only problem is they only have 512 mb of mem. & i want 1G which the geforce 9800 gx2 has, my question is, is the geforce 9800 gx2 compatiple for my motherboard. tnx guys.
I think the biggest difference is the die shrink on the 9800GTX+. The 55nm process runs cooler. There are always a number of posts on here about overheating issues.
so Wrecks, would you recommend i buy 9800 gtx+ or should i go for 9800 gx2 ( or gtx & gx2 are totaly different series ) help me guys realy confused w/ all this tech terminologies

According to that logic, then the GTX260 has a minimum advantage over the 9800GTX, and the GTX280 has a minimum advantage over the GTX280.
The 9800GTX is a faster card than the 9800GT (and is the equivalent to the 8800GT or ATI 4830). The GTX+ version is the same as the GTX version, the only difference is that it is clocked faster and "most" of them are 55nm instead of 65nm.
The 9800GT is good for any modern games maxed out on decent resolutions (except Crysis). It sells for $140 on Newegg, so go for that one if you don't really play games.
9800GTX+ compared to 9800GTX has smaller die size. Hence less power consumption and less heat generation. Also it is little clocked than the 9800GTX. Better get 9800GTX+ than getting 9800GT. Because of high performance and is a newer model than the GT. It'll be useful in future.. ..(also if you don't intend to play games now)
