Recently I got my friend an ASUS 4850 to get my HIS 4850 back that he was borrowing. He claims my card was better because he got a Crysis frame spike in an area. I know cooling is the difference but over all I need you to tell me whether or not there is any difference whatsoever between the two cards because he doesn't seem to believe me.

Outside of a clock increase theres not much of a difference.(Asus has a different fan on one model) You can check newegg.com and see which models have higher clock speeds. Asus has a couple that range from 625-680 and HIS runs from 625-685. You could do a slight overclock if needed.

That really depends on what cooling\clock speed HIS vs. ASUS. The HIS could have been clocked higher or maybe your buddy just needs to uninstall all ATI drivers and reinstall the lastest ones. I do know that ASUS card sometimes worked better with the ASUS modified ATI drivers. (this comment came from a ASUS 9800XT card.)
From my person experiance, I haven't had good luck with HIS tech support when one of their cards went bad. I had to wait 2.5 weeks for a responce to my ticket number I submitted. And 4 months and a few e-mails\calls later I still have do not gotten anyone to respond back because I still need an RMA to get my card fixed!!!
