Hello. A bit imprecise that thread title. I know.
My question is, if there is any way to check if particular parts of a motherboard has stopped working properly.
I've got a GA-P35-DS4 that's been overclocked 24/7 since I bought it 1½ years ago. Lately however I've had issues with the system that I can't identify. I'm not entirely sure what the cause is. At some point vista told me that my dvd drive had disappeared without being prepared for it (ide drive), and a few minutes later my 300gb ide drive was gone as well. So I powered down and booted again. All was fine, and I copied everything from the 300gb drive over on my main drive (1.8tb raid5). Since then a few wierd things have happened, of which I can't describe many. But one is that windows complained about a driver crash - but the eventlog didn't tell me which driver. The other day I experienced a short freezeup in a game, and when I went to check the eventlog it said the raid controller had timed out - but windows was still running. Everything was fine for a few days then until today. I was in a game and went to tab out and do something to winamp, and the system just froze up - winamp even stopped playing entirely (usually it'd loop the last bit of sound). I had to hold down the power button 5 secs to shut it down (don't have a reset button), and when I rebooted my raid had failed. Oddly enough though all drives were still there. So I asked the controller to rebuild, and it's doing that now, while I'm writing this.
Is there a way to check if the ich9r or jmicron controller have suffered from the permanent overclock or the like?
I've run prime95 (multithreaded version) many hours at my usual overclock speed without issues, even in summer, and last september or so I checked all my wd drives with wd's diagnostics for windows program without errors.
Also how can I check if my powersupply is doing its job properly? is that even possible without sitting and watching a multimeter for hours at a time?
ps. running stock speed now, while rebuilding. Just in case.
