I OC my i5 to 4Ghz with Vcore about 1.35 and idle @ high 30s. When I ran LinX with Max RAM my temp jump right into high 80s. I ran it for maybe 30 sec then I stopped the test. I am wondering if it has done a lot damage to the CPU.

I was just trying to see if I could. Right now I'm running it @ 3.6 @ 1.25V. IBT for 5 runs is happily @ high 50s

Yes, it IS damaging your CPU with that kind of temperature.

Don't try to OC your i5 to 4GHz unless you have Prolimatech Megashadow + 2x 1800rpm fan + Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease.

My setup: i5-750@3.6GHz + Prolimatech Megashadow + 2x 1800rpm fan(face rear fan) + Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease + HAF922 case

The core temperatures at 18C ambient is : 48C-44C-44C-43C
