Ok, I finally broke down last week and made the jump from dual core to quad, I also setup sli. My problem is I just ran 3dmark06 and I didn't even break 6000 marks. Below is my list of hardware let me know if you have any ideas on how to get my score up a little higher.

AMD phenom 9550
Corsair XMS2 DHX 2048MB Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB)
Asus M2N-SLI Motherboard - NVIDIA nForce 560 SLI
XFX GeForce 8500 GT Video Card - 1GB DDR2
500gb WD harddrive 7400 rpm

The 8500GT is a terrible card for gaming. Seriously. Don't SLI them, sell them (not sure if you have 1 or 2), and buy something from the 8800's, 9600's, HD 4670, or an HD 4850. You'll do much better.

Agreed, the 8500GT is a poor performing card, not much better then integrated graphics. With a SLI system get the 9800GTs they're running about $110 after rebates right now

and even 1 would spank SLIed 8500s. If budget is a real problem look into the 9600GT @80 after rebate

or the 9600GSO @$70 after rebate

My friend got one of those and can't seem to understand that even though its got 1gb memory its just plain crap. Because memory size with a graphics card is what makes it perform.

  Hah 8500GT in SLI :D .

Actually it's kind of surprising you even got that high with them. Even my ol Radeon 3850 with everything at stock speeds gets 8700. If you're on a budget go with a 9600GT. Even a single 9600GT will give you much more performance than your 8500s. You can SLi a second one latter. If you can afford to spend a little more though try and get a 9800GT.
