"i cannot seem to find what is consuming more than 23 gig of my hard drive space"
Wat do u mean by this?
  2. Check what's in your Recycle Bin.

Also check out how much space is being used by Restore Points - see this article for more info: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/windows-vista-solutions,review-1179-2.html

Finally, if it's your system drive then the pagefile and hibernate file can take up a considerable amount of space and yet are not normally visible in Explorer. Change your Explorer options to show hidden files and look in the root folder of the C: drive.
  3. My guess would be restore points and shadow copies, although the recycle bin is also a possibility.
  4. Yes, shadow copies, system restore, swap and hibernate files if you have a lot of ram. They all eat up your disc. You can always run spacemonger and find out what's eating your MBs.
