Hi all. I just bought a powercolor hd 4870 1gb edition, that i am very pleased with. So i was thinking of getting one more and run it in crossfire on a p35-dq6. Is it worth the money or what do you guys think? Have read the FAQ about the p35 cards, and i know that you won`t get the best effect. Was thinking of getting a x48 motherboard, but now with the new X58 mb and cpus is it worth it, or should i just waight for x58?

My hardware is
Q6600
4 GB Ram
p3d-dq6 MB
Powrecolor 4870 1gb

Ps: please excuse my english. Not my first language:)

Crossfire on P35 is 16x/4x. The worse.

Hi. Thanx mate :) currently i run in 1680 *1050 but i am getting a 24" with full HD. The reason for asking the question in the first place is that I would like a new M.B. And with that, is it worth buying a x38/48 now, or just waight for the x58 MB and the new Cpus?

24" will be 1900 x 1200, so Crossfire will definetly help there, it starts actually "helping" at 1680 x 1050. Since your Q6600 is well more than good enough I think you should just go ahead and get an X48. You dont need one of the $300 ones either, DFI has quite a few good ones below $240, Gigabyte has one or two in that range as well.

Snag an X48, that extra 4870 (or 4850), and OC your proc to 3.0 or 3.2...whatever you want, and youll be good to go.

All good options.

I recommend u getting X38 instead of X48 because the difference isnt really much and its cheaper too, boards like ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA are good :)

Right now my cpu is O.C to 3,6 ghz on air and it works just fine;) I think i will go for an x38/48 instead of waighting for the x58 M.B and then we will see what happens next year:) Thanks a lot for your help:)
