I have started to build my second rig recently. I didn't have much experience with the first because my friend was the main person who built it. So this is my first real shot at building a PC. I am caught up in a bind determining what type of PSU I need? (i.e. Wattage and Etc.). These are my specs so far that I have chosen:

AMD Phenom 9950 2.6GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Black Edition Processor

ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 120mm 2-ball UFO Bearing / Transparent CPU Cooler

OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (GETTING 2 OF THEM SO 8 GIGS ALL TOGETHER)

EVGA 896-P3-1267-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card (GETTING 2 FOR 2-WAY SLI)

Foxconn Destroyer AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 780a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Western Digital RE3 WD3202ABYS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

SAMSUNG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA (x2)

........... That's it for the moment. Been working on it for awhile. Please send feedback on PSU and any other hardware. Thanks.

I would go with a 850W it will power the system you have now, and would also be powerful enough for a future upgrade or complete new build.

Just curious, what made you go for the 9950 and not the q6600? I'm also looking at a new pc and am looking at both those processors.

As far as Ocing goes, I will probaly be pushing it to 3.2Ghz. That the goal I had set for it. And the reason I chose AMD over Intel is for two reasons. One is I feel more comfortable with AMD because I have stuck to them for my 1st rig and my friends as well. Second is I am waiting for the Denab AM2+ 3.0 Ghz to come out in '09. I like so far what I'm hearing (not the public testing though, I don't buy into it much) but I think it is going to be a beast of a processor.

something around 650w by a good mnufacturer should suffice, go for maybee 800w if you like headroom for more hardware in the future

i read ur reason for going amd, and all i can say is dont bet on your mobo supporting the 45nm phenoms, even though your chipset should support phenom II, the mobo manufacturer might not release a bios for it. thats what happened to me, i got a gigabyte am2 board, and a athlon x2 'cos amd said i'd be set to get a quad phenom in there once they are released but gigabyte only released a bios for the fist set of phenoms with low speeds and tlb errors

Before deciding on any PSU for the Antec Twelve Hundred case do the research on cable lengths and/or extenders. It is well documented in the Newegg reviews.

I have selected a possible PSU. I have chosen the...

...ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ900 900W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Patent Piperock Modular Power Supply

Should this suffice my system I am planning to build? also, if people reading this don't mind. I would like some feedback on my CPU thread I posted, it is a very important issue to me. Thanks.

P.S.- and no i am not choosing this PSU cause it looks pretty.
