I am replacing a Maxtor 40GB IDE hard drive that crashed with a 60GB Maxtor. Is there anything I should do during installation or before booting up?

Make sure the jumper is correct.
Attach power and data cable (not the blue end. Blue end goes to motherboard).
Check that it is recognized in the bios.
Partition and format it.

Thanks for your reply. I got everything connected but no spin on the spindle!!! Get another drive and start over.
