I ran in to a snag yesterday.

I got a 2.16mhz Core2 Duo on my ASUS P5B DeLuxe that works as it is supposed to but when I pop in my new 3.16mhz C2D (prod code BX80570E8500) - which is, as far as I can see, on the supported CPU list - I don't get further than the BIOS welcome screen when I boot. Im prompted to press either [Del] to enter BIOS setup or [tab] but none of them work, no key at all actually. Its just stuck.

I have the 1236 BIOS version (latest)
I have 650W pwr

If anyone has any idea as to what kind of gremlin may be causing this, please advice.

if you have 4 gig of memory you need to remove some and reinstall it after succesfully booting, there is also a 12137 bios out there just for this reason

Yes, that seem to have been the thing. I took out 1GB and it booted as normal with the new CPU. However it wont run after I put that memory back though. And I lost sound. [lol] Gotta love the world of computers!
