I overclocked my athlon II x2 245 from 2.9 to 3.4 no voltage increase. Stable while running Prime95.
Problem is it's sitting around 38-40C idle and around 52C load with stock hsf. Is that okay for this processor? Or should I back off a few hundred mhz?

Solution

With stock those temperatures are alright. But whats your ambient temp, you should be a bit lower considering its a dual core. Also increasing the speed w/o increasing voltage won't affect temps.

i have a amd athlon ii x2 245...
instead of going into the bios i used the amd overdrive to overclock it and i got blue screen at 250 MHz
i didnt want to push it too hard so i left it at 225 Mhz which gives around 3200 Mhz core speed and my temperature is sitting around 30 and 35 C
can any1 tell me why is it he can overclock to 3.4 while i sit on 3.2? ><
