I've currently got the Biostar TForce TA780G AM2/AM2+ motherboard with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ (default clock) and 4GB of DDR2-800 G.Skill Memory and am upgrading my system to the Gigabyte GA-MA78 AM2/AM2+ Motherboard paired with an AMD 64 X2 6000+ processor (as well as the same G.Skill memory). The hard drive that I am and will be using is a Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0.

My goal would be to uninstall the biostar motherboard drivers and afterwards install the gigabyte motherboard drivers if I can, although on other forums I've been told that this is either impossible or if it is possible, it will result in an unstable system.

Is it possible or easy to do a switching of the drivers or will I have to to a complete reformat of my OS?

Thanks for any help in advance; I can post other system components if needed.
