Hi.

I need to build a gaming system on a Micro-ATX setup, preferrebly using AMD processor.

Can someone please advise on which mobo would be great for gaming and also be future wise?

Best regards

Michael

The first questions should be:
What is the best vga card that I can stuff into a micro case?
What psu will be needed?

After that, the cpu and mobo are not nearly so important for gaming.

What did you have in mind?

Thanks for all your replies.

I´m not really into the different chipsets.

How does the GeForce 8200 or 8300 perform compared to the 780G?

I found a great deal on the M3N78-EM from Asus, any good or bad thoughts on that one?

I plan on starting out on a dual-core, but like the option to upgrade for a quad-core later on..

Thanks

8200/8300 and 780G compared:

Unless I misread the comparison, both types of integrated graphics gave pitiful FPS results, even at low resolutions. If the purpose of this build is for games, I would not consider using the integrated graphics approach.

It isn't the most demanding game out there by far, but the HD3300 IGP on a 790GX can play Guild Wars on 1440x900 at over 45FPS with some eye candy. I haven't tried it on a 780G with the HD3200.
Hopefully, however, a discrete video card is a valid option for this system. If you're concerned about power requirements, get a HD4670 (or HD4650), which does not need auxilliary power.

ASUS M3A78-CM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

$73, great reviews at the Egg.

compatible with the Phenom 1 & should be compatible with the Phenom 2.

about as future-proof as you can get on the AMD side.

that MB + AMD 920 ($235), good platform for whatever video card you get.
