I have bought a Leadtek 9800gx2
i run it with a Asus M3A mb, Amd 9950 phenom black edition, 2 gb of 1066 kingston ram and a 750w Hyper sli psu
The card has been running great for 2 months but
2 days ago i started getting bright green pixels appearing on my screen
Now it is impossible to play any games as there is too much of these pixels
Even when i start windows i see the logo has numerous green pixels
I have tried another monitor in case that was the fault
Is this an overheating fault or is the card just screwed?
85c is not uncommon for a GPU and should cause you no problems.
The green dots are usually a sign of memory failure.
It sounds to me like you should RMA the GPU as it is in the process of failing.

i have just taken the card out of the pc to see if i could clean it but there is no way of getting close to the fans at all
I have not opened the gpu case as it may void the warranty
When i put it back in the pc it seemed to work fine
Then 5 mins later the pixels came back
I take it the fault is with the gpu memory and not the ram i have onboard?
Thisd is the second 9800 gx2 i have had
The first one went back 3 months ago due to no output on the dvi
Are these cards prone to screwing up ?
if so would i be better getting my money back or get another new 9800 gx2
thanks for the help. i only ask as i will need to pay £25 if no fault is found as i got it from overclockers in uk
