My laptop displays colors in 32-bit mode.

Ive been looking at some TFT monitor specs and it seems most run in 24-bit mode. Is this standard? Are there 32-bit monitors on the market?

24-bit color (8-bit Red, 8-bit Green and 8-bit Blue) will produce 16,777,261 colors. The human eye can only see about 10,000,000 colors. I cannot see what benefit a display offering 32-bit color would provide. On the other hand, when editing color photographs, more bits is beneficial. Editing color photographs is like stretching a rubber band. The larger the band (more bits) the less color information is lost while editing. However, this bit depth is related to file size not monitor resolution.
