Hey all Thanks for commenting on my last post of Phenom 9500 Bottle Necking a 4870 ATI. Well tomshardware is great might i add at answering alot of questions about everything. In the past ive ran CS 1.5/1.6 servers and ventrilo servers, FTP servers with programs like SERV-U very very easy. I was wondering from the people that skim threw toms alot has anyone used windows home server OS? what are your conclusions on it? I know how to setup a DMZ and forward my ports but past that im not up on the latest or greatest home server software, does windows home server make it easy? I just built a new rig, and wanting to use my old rig, i mean old rig, to make a home ftp or any type of server i love hosting and the feelings of fun ness that comes with it, its just great. The system i plan to use is SOCKET A 2600+ 2.0Ghz 512Mb DDR2 266mhz 80Gb HD, 10MBit D/L 966KB upload, 5900XT Geforce FX Card. I think this isnt a bad system, i used this Computer for 7 Years its done its work and served its time, and now is outdated, But can still be put to good use other then web browsing, i mean hell its AGP wich will soon be a term none of the new age Computer builders will know of which makes me sad :(. i was born only in 1987 and started gaming in 2003 or so but still its very sad to me, that technology progresses so fast, and by the time im 50 will be far beyond my grasp of understanding of what an everyday CPU will be able to process. Probably that of a small super computer :). ANYWAYS enough of drunken sadness. Anyone with better understanding of home networking better then mine some comments would be quite appreciated? Thankz. i just want a simple this or that answer nothing to complex, thankx to those who take time to explain how great or flawed windows home server OS is. Because frankly you can get an OS on bittorent for free/cracked and is fine. and or would you recommend just getting something like windows media center 2005 over windows home server?
