So in a atempt to squeeze a year or two from my dell xps410 i have updated a few items.
Ram- from 1gb to 4
Video card- 7300LE to a 9500GTS
CPU- E6300 1.86 to a E6600 2.66
And another 250GB 7200rpm 16MB chace HD for raid 0

Now heres the odd thing after all my upgrades execpt the CPU i was at a windows score of 5.0, then i replaced the cpu and went down to a 4.6?? Ive updated the BIOS and check for any new drivers. Kinda odd...any ideas. This is the best upgrade i can do with the dell MOBO ( this is per Dell ). The CPU was bought from dell, only 98 shipped

PC is mostly used for Spore and WoW, and some picture and video editing

Thanks

Perhaps i figured this out. Dell sent me a 805 D, higher clock speed (2.6) but lower FSB then my old E6300. I think this must be a downgrade fromt my 1.8, or am i wrong?

use cpuz to be sure but thats about the performance of the 805 pentium d did you ask for an E6600 which runs at 2.4 by the way?

Send the CPU back to Dell. They sent you the wrong one, or you ordered the wrong one. Even if you'd gotten the right one, the Windows Experience numbers aren't the best way to determine the worth of your system for actually running apps and games.

I asked dell what CPUs there new Bios would suport so i could buy one from newegg, then they told me they sold CPUs. They told be a core 2 duo 2.6Ghz so i thought it was going to be a E6700, when i pressed him for a part number they gave me some dell p/n. I thought it was to good for the price (98) shipped. Or corse this is way tio much for a 805 d LOL
So looks like its going back

Thanks

Happy holidays!

I wouldn't rely on the windows rating. I have a i7 920 with a 4870 and 3GB RAM, and have windows rating 5.5. But in benchmarks its a completely different chapter. So if you want to rate your system use some benchmark.
