HD: 320 and 640 Western Dig
CPU cooler : Xig 1283 or CM Hyper 212
PSU : Antec 850w
DVD/CD: which ever is on sell this week around $26

OS: XP ( i know it will only see 3gigs )

Thx agian for any input , will be ordering parts starting tuesday ....

why wont you get 64 bit operating system? I have vista 64 bit and everything including games runs perfectly. also i would go with ati right now but that's just my preference lol

Looks good. You know, the Q9550 won't be much of an upgrade as far as gaming goes, over that E8400 due to the lower core speed. If your gonna stick an aftermarket cooler like that on there anyway you should think about just overclocking it when you need more CPU performance.

Nvidia boards are junk.
SLI is a waste.
Intel P45 chipsets are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
4870 is better $$/performance.
without Ocing you dont need aftermarket cooler.
Grab 64 bit OS.
Vista with SP1
The money saved from going p45 and a q6600 would buy you a nice Acer 20-22" monitor.
If you did go p45 you could OC your Q6600 to 3.6-3.8 and have a faster more enjoyable rig.
Or you could go e8400 and OC it to 4.5+ on air if you find a E0 stepping. "ON P45 CHIPSET"

K so if I don;t go with a EVGA mobo .

How about the ASuS P5Q series boards . I hear good things about those Asus and Gigabyte.

P45 if single card
X45 if dual .

I prefer a single card , so 4870 card.

I dont; plan on OC'ing atm , as I'm new to all this building your own . I've always bought a Dell in the past and looking to try something new and cheaper . ALso if I don;t plan to OC then getting the E8400 over a non OC'ed 6600 is the better choice ?

Thx again
