I have vista 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit in dual boot mode. In Vista i have 4 gb of memory (4x1 667mhz DDR2) I just installed Windows 7 64-bit and it only shows 4 gb of ram. Becasue it's a 64-bit OS shouldn't it be double at 8 gb of ram? Any help would be great.

Why would it double?

It can show more than 4GB, but you need to have more than 4GB for it to show it.

Is the OP serious?


Win 7 is showing the amount of RAM you have. No More, No less. If you want more memory, then you should buy and install it.

My mistake, i was under the impression that it doubled up in a 64-bit OS...Oh well Live and learn. Thanks.
