I have a newly built machine that has been running well for the past two months and i have been leaning closer and closer to overclocking. What overclock do you think i could reach with an e8400, idle temps at 32C (according to realtemp) and load at 39-40C on my non oc'ed chip.
Specs:
Asus P5E Deluxe X48 mobo
4870 oc'd to 790/1100
4gb pc6400 ram
e8400 C0 stepping i believe
antec tpq 850watt psu
xigmatek s1283 cpu cooler

Do you have a computer to put it in?

You cant overclock without other components.

Wow you got a 8400. Great!

You need to list specs, if your specs are junk you cant OC at all.

Is your 8400 CO stepping or E0 Stepping?

It depends on your motherboard fsb limitations. If not limited, most e8400 can oc reliably to at least 4ghz stable, sometimes 4.3.

------------------------------ Q6600@3.6ghz, GA-EX38-DS4 motherboard, 8gb 800mhz ddr2 4-3-3-12, 8800GTS(g92)@780mhz, 1TB + 1.5TB hdds, 850watt psu

Which stepping is better? I have a C0

E0 is better.

E0 can hit 4.5+ on air.

And I meant E0 not M0.
