How to get my xp laptop to recognise the original microsoft disc is in the drive

Hello,
I deleted my microsoft office 2003 by mistake, I've reinstalled with the original disc but still cannot use powerpoint etc as it's asking for the original disc and not recognising that it's there. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Did you install Office using a Custom setup? Go to add/remove programs, select Office, and do a Re-installation, select the Full setup. Could be your disk is bad and it can't read some parts of the setup.
