Hi... i submit my query to the uber knowledgable around the world.
I bought a sapphire HD4870 512mb

My current rig is as follows.
Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz (400x8)
GA-P35-DS3R 2.1

4x2GB Transcend DDR2 800mhz @ (8GB Total Vista X64 running with no PageFile - Superfetch ON)

FSB 1600mhz

PSU Raidmax 620W Modular

HDD Samsung SATA 7200 16mb Cache (strip set Raid0)

my HD4870 clocks are as follows GPU 830Mhz Mem 1100Mhz in ATI overdrive[/img]

ASUS Rampage Formula DDR2 1200 board which i have bought but not installed yet" improve the performance of the GFX Card. I would assume the increased bandwidth would????

However i have heard differing reports - Any info for a desperate South African without access to all the vendors and technical call centres availalbe in the States" alt="" class="imgLz frmImg " />

To crossfire X48 is certainly the way to go, but for single card setups, the difference will either be null or negligeable. Yes the bandwidth doubled, but most cards didn't even use the full 1.0 bandwidth so no difference there.

In CF it's different since the cards use the PCI-E bus to communicate with each other, that is why there is a gain there.

Remember to update to bios 410 and you'll be flying.

Granted - however the reason i ask is as follows.
In comparison to both my current results and the results i had with my 3870

My SME3.0 scores were a bit odd. both suffered about 20-30FPS lower on the Canyon flight score when compared to other systems running either P45 or higher shipsets had a much better canyon flight performance.

My assumption is that the Bandwidth of the P35 PCI Bus is limiting.
Or would it be the DDR2 800 RAM.

Granted my next purchase is the second HD4870 and the reason i got the ASUS Rampage is that it runs 16x16 and not 8x8.

also... what is the 410 Bios? (MODTECH)
