Hi... i submit my query to the uber knowledgable around the world.
I bought a sapphire HD4870 512mb
My current rig is as follows.
Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz (400x8)
GA-P35-DS3R 2.1
4x2GB Transcend DDR2 800mhz @ 5.5.5.15 (8GB Total Vista X64 running with no PageFile - Superfetch ON)
FSB 1600mhz
PSU Raidmax 620W Modular
HDD Samsung SATA 7200 16mb Cache (strip set Raid0)
my HD4870 clocks are as follows GPU 830Mhz Mem 1100Mhz in ATI overdrive[/img]
f 16170 @ default config
and in 3dMark Vantage i get P9934 on Performance preset (Pro User License)
My question apart from the obvious "get a second card, which i am planning on" is will the upgrade from a P35 chipset with a PCI-E 1.0 slot to an X48 Chipset "ASUS Rampage Formula DDR2 1200 board which i have bought but not installed yet" improve the performance of the GFX Card. I would assume the increased bandwidth would????
However i have heard differing reports - Any info for a desperate South African without access to all the vendors and technical call centres availalbe in the States
