I have a Q6600 and I realized it only shows two cores that are working. I went to task manager and click the performance tab and it only has two windows for the cores. However I go to device manager and it states I have four cores. How can I get the other two cores to work? I have p6n MSI Diamond board. Nothing is overclocked or anything. It states that I do have a q6600 cpu though. I am using windows vista ultimate 64 bit

several motherboards have options to turn cores on or off. i don't know if your exact board has that, but it be a good place to start.

if the board has it it would be in the bios.

try that out and i hope this helps.

What he said

ALSO 2 things.

1. Did you use to have a 2 core CPU and you just put in the Q6600 with out ding a reinstall of Windows? Sometimes that causes it..

IF all else is ok then i would def RMA the chip due to it being defective.
