More about everything video card
  1. 4870 ( X2 if you can affort it) seems to be te best bang ATM
  2. antec 1200 case (+2 antec tri cool 120mm fans for the optionals)

antec truepower 1000W modular power supply

intel core i7 920 2.66ghz processor (plan to overclock it)

vigor monsoon III cpu cooler (taking stock fan off and adding 2 antec tricool 120mm fans on both sides for cooling and exhaust)

    asus rampage III x58 motherboard

    6gb g skill ddr3 1600ghz ram

    aoc 22" widescreen 1680 x 1050 monitor

    WD veloci-raptor 300gb hdd

    samsung 22x cd/dvd drive (x2)

scythe 5.25" bay fan controller (for opt fans and cpu cooler and temps)

    budget: $400-500
  3. boulard83 is right
  4. yeah get the 4870 x2
  5. Dump the raptor. Get the WD640 and the x2. If thats not enough money saved, get a different PSU. You don't need 1kW for this build.
  6. 1kw comes in a combo with the case on newegg + gives me room for expanding in future if I eventually plan on it
  7. YOU have a CF board i think, a CF X2 pump lotta juice !

edit 1: This mobo can do SLI and CF ???
  8. All X58 boards should be able to do both. Nvidia finally allows it. If you have $400-500 for a video card, then get the x2 already listed. If you need to save some dough, drop the hdd a bit. The WD640 isn't a bad drive.
  9. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102810 180x2=360 if you have cf motherboard other wise get the x2
  10. no reason to get i7 for gaming. a core 2 does not bottleneck the 4870X2 so therefore you would get almost no gaming benefit for a MUCH higher price.
  11. ^ I would personally enjoy benchmarks for oc on that card!
