Actually its not really a stupid question its more of a trust question.

People keep saying that when you SLI cards, if 1 is a stock version and 1 is an OC version, does it really matter which of the 2 goes in the first slot?

I personally think it doesn't but can any else either back up my answer or just teach me otherwise:P

Thanks!

It does not matter. If it were up to me i would place the faster card on the 1st slot so games not supporting sli would benefit due to faster clocks.

Practically that makes sense. but even if the game doesn't support sli but your in SLI mode, doesn't the card still run @ the downclocked speeds? i mean they are still linked, unless you turn off SLI, but I think even then they are still linked.

I'm pretty sure it defaults to slower clocks, however stock cards are 98% of time able to reach the mildly OC version speeds (I say mild OC because those factory overclocks are usually a joke, except for a few).

well yes because the slower card cant keep up with the faster card causing bottleneck which can lead to instability.

well I dunno, I have a weird setup, I ahve 1 280 GTX OC1, OC2 and OCX.

I just oced them all to OCX, but didn't kno if I should take the OCX from the middle and just stick it in the first slot.

Use Rivatuner and overclock both cards even higher than the OC version was and you will be fine...

You wont gain any increase in performance. I see no point of it.
