This will be my first build, but I am doing it with my 13 year old son as a father son bonding thingy , as we both enjoy gaming. Games such as WOW, C & C, Fallout 2,3, Diablo 2,3, Warhammer, Crysis, etc. Anyway was thinking that we could build a better computer than we could buy from a computer store. Our budget is around $1400, (But would like to be around $1100 if possible without sacrificing to much, but not sure where to cut) I went to newegg and did research online, but before I buy anything I wanted to be 100% sure that what I buy is compatiable, and able to run the above games, and would not require any upgrades for a while. here is a list of what I picked out. Also not sure if I missed anything, or if I need a sound card. Any help or advice would be very helpful and appreicated. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to these questions. Total price with all below including shipping $1264.90 All prices are from newegg.

First things first. If you're going to use Vista 64-bit, 2GB of ram is NOT enough. Sart with 2x2GB instead of 2x1GB (some people would even suggest 4x2GB to begin with).
Then I would get a Corsair PSU paired with a Asus P5Q-PRO (Combo Deal) which offers great performance/reliability/value compared to the PSU and motherboard you have picked now.
At $179.00, I would definitely go for a HD4850 instead of a 8800GTS 512mb (cheaper and substantially faster).
Great choice on the HDD and CPU though, those are pretty solid components.

Oh a quick note if you want to save some money, there's quite a lot of combo deals off newegg with your current components. Try matching them for the best C/P. Such as the E8400 + the P5Q will save you an extra $35.
