Hello,

Quick question, does the Radeon 4870 x2 support dual monitors, both connected through DVI? The manual is confusing, and I can't tell whether it is possible or not. If it isn't, what exactly is the point of having the second DVI output?

I have tried connecting both of my monitors through DVI with no luck. I can, however, connect one through VGA and the other through DVI.

Thanks for the help

wait what?
4870x2 has two dvi ports, it should work... you have to obviously enable both monitors through ati CCC, either as a cloned monitor or an extension, i don't know what your doing wrong, but it should work flawlessly

two dvi ports=two monitors, one mointor each... you dont need to use both for one monitor [duh?]

I actually think it is a cable problem. I just tested it on another computer and still got no image. Thanks for the reply.

I know it sounded ridiculous, but the manual from Diamond gives a list of possible configurations, and it doesnt list dual dvi. It has things like one crt and one dvi, or one hdtv and one dvi, but no dvi and dvi. I guess that was what was throwing me off.

Im having the same issue with 1 4870X2, connecting two dual-DVI monitors (2x 30" at 2560x1600) with dual DVI cables. The max resolution on the second screen is only 1280x800

I kinda tried everything at this point so I dont know what else I can try.

Any help would be awesome.

you seem to be having a problem similar to mine. i only have one 30" monitor, do you know if you can hook one up and still use crossfire on it?

Im running dual monitors with my saphire 4870 x2. One is a 28" and the other is a 22". Running 1920x1200 on the 28", and 1680x1050 on the 22". No problems at all. Its nice, can put my real temp, team speak, and other monitoring apps on the 22", while playing games on the 28". Im happy!! Most games I am able to run both. there may be some that will turn the second monitor off. For example, STALKER Clear Sky makes the second monitor go blank. It just depends on software I guess.

I was having a problem when I installed a second monitor. The First Display could be set to resolutions up to my monitor's (HP w1907) max. The second display, an identical monitor, would only display 640x480, 59Hz, and low color.

I was finally able to change it with the [FORCE] button in the Catalyst Control Center ("MODE" selected, in the "Settings" box)
