Since the Introduction of the Intel i7 the prices of new Quad cores have remain the same.
I'm planning to get one of then after the 20 December.
Will there be a price fall?

Even the Intel i7 920 is price lower than the Q9550?
I can't afford to buy an x58 motherboard and DDR3 ram.
I have just upgraded my PC.

I think they consider the i7 in a different category due to its high platform price. I think your best hope for a price drop is that the Phenom II's will do well when they are released in the beginning of January.

Yeah I'm not sure you understand how a monopoly (or as close as you can get in a sector now days) works...

The price will come down if the Pheonm II's offer competitive performance at a cheaper price, or enough time has passed and production has ceased that vendors will be allowed to reduce the price to clear inventories.

What the AMD guys are doing out there.
I wish they could do same with their CPU as they did with their GPU.

If the Phenom II isn't successful then the price won't change right!

They won't go down =(. They'll be replaced by the i7.

Supply and demand, clearly the demand must still be there for them.

I suppose the price might go sown, or up but not buy a big ammount. These are going out of production soon in Q2

What stepping did you get with that promo chip ... C1 or E0?

ON Ebay the E0 stepping is $319.
it is also available without the HSF for $275.
This is a deal if you have a good HSF or you are going to buy one for overclocking.
But I want to have one with all its accessories even if I have to buy a better CPU HSF like the Max Orb which is one of the best out there in term or aesthetic and performance.

I want ot have a cheaper Quad but I think that the Q9550 is the best i can have.
The Q9400 is @2.66 with 6MB cache.
I just don't want to the mighty Q6600 as its old and I don't want overclock anything.

Presently I'm using an E4600.
I can play game smoothly on the latter and it score 5.3 for it in Vista.

I just wan a system to last for at least 2 or 3 years.

So anyone has a better suggestion for me.

My specs:
Asus P5Q-E
HD 4870 512 MB
E4600 @ 2.4 GHz
Corsair 2 GB DDR-2 6400
SB Audigy 4
