Ok so I took suggestions from some members of this forum and spent some money I didnt have .
Im upgrading my 5 year old Area 51 rig. Last year I added an Antec 650w ps and will be transferring my HHD and drives over. How do you think this build will fare for gaming?

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400 - Retail

Actually, that sounds like it would be a pretty sweet rig. I do not know if that 650watt psu will handle two crossfire cards. maybe someone else can shed some more light on that topic.
also, why do you need two cards? A 4870 would work great if you only have one monitor. If you're using a large monitor and or a tv, then crossfire might be a better option.

Personally, i've always liked alienware pc's. As long as everything fits in the case, then you should be good to go with those components.

Just out of curiosity, what color case do you have?

Of all the graphic subsystems you can choose from, you choose 2 4850's?

Good luck!

Why would those cards be a bad choice? I was trying not to break the bank and others suggested these would work well without costing too much $$$

Also...wont two of these cards linked increase performance over just having one? Forgive me as Im not a hardware expert, thats why I asked for help on this site.

There's nothing to worry about with what you chose, in fact you made some pretty solid buys (you might want to make sure there's decent ventilation for HD4850 CF, they run hot sometimes).

I believe the power supply can handle the load for your setup.

I might question the power supply depending on what your using it for in terms of overclocking etc... I had a 580W Hiper powering a 6000+ and my current 3870's in CF. Now i could only overclock either or...

650W will be plenty for stock, but i'm just putting it out there that if you intend to overclock your GFX and CPU you 'may' encounter some PSU troubles. I know it sounds silly, but if it were me personally i'd go for a square 700W Teir 2 PSU.
