In early 2008 I built up a new computer but am still using an old 15" 1024x768 lcd monitor. I want to get a new monitor for gaming. Here's the system specs:

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 (OC 3.2 Ghz)
MSI 8800 GT (Factory OC)
4 GB Corsair XMS2 DHX DDR2

I play crysis, bioshock, cod4, world in conflict, lots others. I get about 14,500 in 3dmark06 at 1024x768.

I don't want to get too big of a monitor that would force me to reduce game graphics settings. Basically I'm deciding between:

19" 1440x900
19" 1680x1050
22" 1680x1050

Any idea what would be optimal with my system?

I like my 22" and it'd work just fine with an 8800gt, my old card was a x1900xt which was running it fine till the card died

Acer and others are sitting around $200 which is a great price/size ratio.

A 22" would work fine, prices have gone down a great deal now, too.

22" in monitors are so cheap now, just go for it.

Worth every penny IMHO

Get a 22". If you want to play Crysis on it at 1024x768 for better fps, you can do it.

Bro, you're doing it the wrong way. You start with the monitor first, and then build your system around the res you'll be working/playing at. Don't buy a 24" 1920 and play at 1440. Pixel resizing on LCD's sucks.

does anyone have a system similar to mine that also plays crysis? what kind of fps do you get and at what graphic settings?

Try Google, with the keywords Q6600 8800GT Crysis benchmarks. Here's an example:
