Nternet says I am connected but it wont work

Hello,-my computer says I'm connected,but my email doesn't work nor can I access the internet.I use offsite software & can connect to that,which means I have internet access,but not for email or other internet.Any ideas.Thanks

with the computer ON, unplug the modem from power, wait 15 seconds, plug the power back in, wait till the modem lights are blinking normally, about 60 seconds.
Restart the computer.
The internet should work now. If not, repeat the above with the ROUTER.
The computer must be ON when rebooting the router or modem, then restart the computer.

Check the LAN settings for your browser. If you're using a proxy server, make sure that's checked, if not, then disable the proxy settings.
