I have PC5300 RAM (667) that has a CAS of 4 and I have PC6400 (800) that has a CAS of 6. Given that the PC5300 RAM has a CAS latency of 4 and the PC6400 has a CAS latency of 6, am I correct that the PC5300 will actually be slightly faster (even though it's 667mhz)?
(The mother board for this small HP home server only has one channel RAM, thus limited to one stick. Trying to determine which stick will give better performance and then return the other stick.)
What's the CAS latency of the PC6400 at 667Mhz? Both the PC5300 and the PC6400 probably have very similar timings at the same frequency. If you have both, run memtest and you'll see if one is faster. While running applications, you won't be able to tell the difference.
