Hello folks, its been almost 3 years since I was last here asking for help and here i am again.

About 4 months ago my power supply failed. The fan would begin to spin and all the lights would flicker on and then everything would turn off. Since then my computer has been KIA because I didn't feel like ordering parts to my dorm room. I eventually ordered a new PSU and had it shipped to my house so that I could fix it when i got home, and here I am.

original PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817128004

new PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703005

For some reason the new PSU doesnt turn on at all when it is all hooked up. The only things that I could think are wrong are:

A) I somehow hooked it up wrong
B) It was DOA and I need to return it.
C) It's not compatible with my motherboard

Any ideas?

Unhook all optical and hardrives, and try for a bare post. I would also list your motherboard. And be sure the 12v 4 (or 8 pin for newer boards) is connected properly. I once answered a post where the newbie was trying to use the 4 pins that break off the end of the 24 pin connector for the 12v atx plug. That's a no-no.

I cant remember what kind of motherboard I have, I think its a GIGABYTE DS3?

I tried the bare post and nothing happens, the PSU still doesnt start at all and the motherboard makes no noise. I'm guessing its dead? My old one atleast turns on for a moment when its connected to just the power, this new one does nothing.
