I have bought a lan wire and two sockets I want to connect tow Notebooks in Lan, how to do that, I mean inserting wires at the right place in socket and all, any tutorial may help me.

basically I want to LAN two systems with a lan wire(having 8 copper insulated wire) and two sockets having 8 pins.

for just two machines without a router you need to create a cross over cable
