I am trying to install Western Digital Caviar black 1 TB Sata Hard Drive. Windows XP will not detect the Hard
Disk. I tried using an old Western Digital diagnostic CD that did not work. It economized it and formatted it but
when I put in the XP disk it still did not detect it. I have brand new cables for my brand new Hard Drive.
I also so tried some troubleshooting slipstreaming files and creating a new set up disk but that did not work
either.

See here http://www.digitgeek.com/how-to-slipstream-sata-drivers-into-xp-cd/
http://www.howtohaven.com/system/slipstream-xp-service-pack-3.shtml.

My BIOS On Chip IDE devices are set as follows:

On Chip Sata: Enabled
Sata Mode: RAID
IDE DMA Transfer Access: Enabled
OnChip IDE Channel l0: Enabled
OnChip IDE i1: Enabled
OnChip Prefetch Mode: Enabled
Onboard Lan Boot Rom: Disabled

Please help, thanks in advance.

System:
Desktop
O/S: Windows XP
RAM: 2 Gigs
Mother Board: PM8M-V (MS-7104 v. 20A)
Hard Disk: Western Digital Caviar Black Sata 1 Terabyte

Solution
Any reason why you have the SATA mode set to RAID?

Either set SATA mode to IDE (emulation) or load the chipset driver using F6 (providing you have a Floppy drive).

No idea why it's set to RAID I am just letting you know of the present settings, I am new to this. Don't have a working floppy those things are kind of outdated. But can get one if necessary, will try your solutions as soon as I can, thanks for responding!
