After installing new 2x2gb G.Skill PC2-8000 and Windows Vista 64 bit I saw that my 4780 was using 1535mb of "Shared System Memory"
My total ram that is recognized by Windows is 3582mb
I'd like to know what this "Shared System Memory" is and how to disable is.
btw: my mobo has an on-board vga, I set vga mode to PCI E so I think the on-board vga is disabled
No disable option. But there is another option called "Surround View" it says that if I enable that both internal and external GFXs will be running. This option is set on "disable" so I assume that the onboard gfx is disabled.
Also, when I was using 2gigs of ram I didn't have this problem at all
I dont have Vista myself but could it be that the system has earmarked some of the Ram with the prefetch ? Which i beleive can be turned off but shouldnt be.
Hmm... this is weird. Windows seems so recognize all 4GBs and the 4870 is using 1791MB as shared memory now. I'm not sure what caused this, but I've been overclocking lately. It could be a RAM issue
Problem can be considered as solved, thanx for all replys
