Hey guys,

I just wanted a second opinion on a computer im planning to build. If you see anything to critique do so. Last computer i built was in 2005 and i've been out of the loop.

I plan to play games and thats about it. I mostly play MMO's and some FPS. Ex: WoW, WAR Online, CoD4, CS:Source, TF2, etc..

My main questions concerns would be: Is the graphics card gonna last me for a while and play games at full FPS? Is the PSU good enough? The hard drive going to give me problems? Am i forgetting anything? (Im getting tired =P)

Thanks in return!!

With that set up, you should be fine for 2-3 years. It all depends on how new games are written with Dx 10 and all that. But with that processor complimenting that amazing graphics card(i have one) you should be JUST FINE my friend.

May I suggest going for the HD4850 instead of the 9800GTX? Similar price, better performance.

Also you might want to look into the Western Digital 640gb, 15 bucks more expensive but very fast.

And you could probably save a lot of money if you went for a cheaper motherboard, the one you chose is expensive because it supports crossfire, which you would never be able to use with a GeForce card anyway. I'm not familiar with AMD processor motherboards, though similar ones for intel are in the ~$110 price range.

And don't forget you could probably increase your cpu's performance by a lot using a ~$35 cooler, but again I am not familiar with AMD cpus.

Thanks for the input! Keep them coming.

I'll debate the processor/graphics card change. Trying to keep this budget priced. I'll snoop around and see how the prices differ. Thanks!

Ya I meant to add a dvd drive...must of been tired. =P Thanks!

There seems to be a big price difference between the HD4850 and 4870. Im kind of a graphics card noob per say...Could someone explain the difference?

They have a ~5-10% difference. The HD4850 is the best "bang for your buck" at the moment.

But as I said earlier the largest cut from the price right now would be to downgrade from your current motherboard (that supports quad crossfire) to one that supports dual or no crossfire at all, it would almost halve the price.
