Open Intel Matrix Storage Manager; it will show the status of your RAID arrays and volumes, including the HDDs.

This will probably not be on an AMD system ...or would it?
I'm considering possibilities BEFORE I set up my raid1 system.

RAID1 is not high safety; its high availability. And RAID1 should not be used by home users.

Home users think RAID1 as an easy backup solution. They yet have to learn RAID is no replacement for a backup. Once they get RAID-specific problems or filesystem corruption, they will understand that. Unfortunately only few understand before they actually lost valuable data.
