hd4870 x2 - no 2d mode for one core, disabled adapter, high temperatur

Hi,

It's my first message here

I've just bought Gainward ATI HD4870 X2 and have some problems.

1. The first core doesn't switch to 2d mode. It works fine for the second one. How to enforce 2d mode? I tried with rivatuner and overdrive (don't work!)

2. In CCC in information about hardware I have "disabled adapter" for the second core.

3. The temperatures are high (80 idle)

I would be grateful for any information about this issues.

There are some other threads on these topics but here is the short version.

To get into 2d mode go into and exit a game.

If you find 80c too high run your fan higher. I'm idling at 56 right now with a relatively quiet 35% setting. I run 40% in games and max out at about 80c.

mate that's the way it is - manufacturers have always given priority to releasing their card over fixing glitches, so they always take a while to get up and running properly. It's only been out 2 months anyway.

I set RIvatuner to sort my fan incrementally - about 35% i think, and i idle at 56c.

One problem i have randomly, is on Pro evolution 2009, I think my 4870x2 is creating a bottleneck, as the best GPU the game manual lists is a 3850. All settings are turned way up in CCC. Basically, when i play, every 8secs a slight disruption (line) moves up the screen. Hardly a problem but noticeable.

got any ideas??
