Making OS in Local Disk D the default OS

Hello, I have installed two Windows XPs: one in C: and one in D: . I wish to keep the windows in d and format c: . However, when i tried to format c: it is unable to format. C: is "system" and D: is "BOOT" in disk management.
Help please!

You can format using the XP install disk.
