My Abit AN-m2hd MOBO is failing, and with Abit out of business, I am thinking of replacement. I was not impressed with the quality of build on this thing -- 2 of my sata connectors came lose as I was removing cables, hence the beginning of my woes.
Like Asus as a rule, but I will not be OC'ing my board, whichever I choose.
Specs:
1. Case. Cooler Master Centurion 5.
2. MOBO - TO BE DETERMINED
3. CPU: AMD X2 BE-2400 2.3GHZ.
4. Memory: 2x1GB (2GB total) Ballistix DDR2 800. (needs voltage at 2.10V). I don't think my Abit board meshed well with this ram.
5. Power Supply: Antec true power 480Watts.
6. Main drive is a 250G WD IDE drive left over from another build. I have a 1T WD SATA drive for media and a SATA DVD-RW.
I am not a gamer but play tons of music -- and can't pop right now for a sound card, so onboard sound should be solid. I run from my board out to a stereo receiver and real speakers. The quality on the Abit was fine.
I want to keep this near $75 or less unless there's a compelling reason why I must go higher. I output to an old 20" VGA CRT monitor, but might upgrade sometimes to HDMI HD monitor, who knows, if they get cheap. I can't afford to spend any more on the system than the new MOBO, sorry.
Thanks for help to all.
