New PC please chip in some advice

Hey guys im building a new pc not upgrading, but new. my old pc is an amd athlon 3400 with a agp interface ati 1950 pro on a nforce 3 board the last new game ive been able to play was oblivion or stalker. sso i need something for these new direct x 10 games any idea my budget is about $1500

I believe thats enough for a nice Nehelem (Core i7) build.

Im not an expert in that area, but i can tell you to look at the new Intel 920 processor. its about $300 at Newegg.

The motherboard will also cost around $300 and there aren't many to choose from as Core i7 is pretty new.

The new memory standard for these is DDR3. That is kind of expensive but not outrageous. 2x 1GB kits can be had for under $70.

You will prolly want a nice video card too. The ATI 4870 seems to be a favorite around here. That can be found for well under $220.

Thats $890 right there. Add in a nice PSU and case and you have yourself a rockin' new computer. Other users will give you specifics.

btw the best piece of advice: wait till the new AMD processor is out. i would rather rock a decent overclocked AMD and save lots of $$$ for a badass GPU then have an amazing intel processor and an OK graphics card.
