Hello, the Radeon HD 4870 has two 6 pin connectors on it, these lead/convert to 2 power connectors on the end of each. Do all 4 power connectors need to be connected? Or just one from each 6 pin connector.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP ! !

Yes, both pcie6pin slots need to be connected. If you're talking about the dual molex to single pcie 6 pin adapters, you don't need them if your psu has native pcie 6pin plugs. Use the ones from psu instead. All recent psus should have at least one.

No my psu is 2 years old and only has a 4 pin connector coming out of it. I've got 2 6 pin adapters in the graphics card an these conver to 4 standard power connecters (the large 4 pin ones that usually connect to things like the dvd rom drive). I take it all 4 power connecters have to be connected then? Since i dont have any direct 6 pin connecters coming out of my PSU.

If a 2 year old PSU doesn't even have the necessary connections I would be wary of it, chances are it might not be able to support the HD 4870 properly.

I am wary of it but I really cant afford a new PSU, it just had a 8800gtx in it and handled that fine but that only required one 6 pin connection (2 molex connections). its 550W and its had two years use so i'm hoping it has at least 500W remaining it it. O WHATS A BOY TO DO ! ! ! So to confirm, it needs to be connected to all 4 molex connectors rite? THANK YOU PEOPLE

Do you not have the extra 4 molex connectors? If you do, plug it in and try it first. :p

There are also one molex to one pcie6pin adapters that can be brought separately.

No offense, but everybody's confused. To answer your question directly, yes, you do need all 4 molex connectors connected.

To the confused (again no offense), he has two, 2 molex-1 PCIE 6 pin (=4 molex to 2 PCIE 6 pins) connectors that are hooked up to his card and he wants to know if all 4 molex connectors need to be hooked up.
