Yeah I have a few dell's and let me tell you I use to be a loyal customer till I got my laptop and had to calll them on a regular basis to fix the hardware, and over half the time they never did. Had this laptop for 3years now I think and its been broken for over half the time I had it, been sent in at least 10 times for repair (multiple motherboards, power supply, screen which they broke when shipped back to me, and a dvd drive they didn't repair for a year and through 5 different calls at least). Sorry for the the ramble on why I hate Dell, but this kind of thing on how bad their support isn't all that unheard of, just wanted you to get the picture.
In my opinion if you have the knowledge and know how, I go with option A. Build it yourself. Because you have more freedom in terms of components you can choose, as well as it's going to be quite a bit cheaper, and most parts you buy come with some sort of warrenty anyway.
