Four 22" Monitors: What Motherboard and GPU's?

Just wondering what board to get for handling four 22" monitors. Please recommend a motherboard and video cards to get. Looking mainly to go Intel with a Core2 or Quad.

  1. Depends on what you will do with them.

That would be one inexpensive option, along with a couple 4850s... or you can go up from there.
  2. theres a 3870x2 out there that has 4 DVI ports. Single card, but it'll cost you a lot more than the minimum you need. minimum being 2 matching dual dvi cards, and 2 will do Assuming quad monitors means just working with documents, non-gpu accelerated work
  3. what do you plan on doing with the monitors? if you're going to use them all for gaming, then you're going to have to spend a very large amount of money. but if you don't need them all for gaming, rather just basic windows stuff, then keep your 8800GTS and just pick up a second cheap video card. if you don't sli the two, you can run 4 monitors.
  4. Thanks for the responses, nothing special just to have real estate, Word, Internet, Email, Quickbooks, nothing special just real estate.
  5. just pick up a nice simple 3450 or something... just something cheap will do as it doesn't really need any 3d acceleration
  6. Your motherboard has two pcie slots, although one is only X4. Still that is plenty.
Get a 9400GT card for about $50. With vista, you will need to use the same driver on both cards. Adding the card is simple, no driver change is necessary.

If price is not an issue, you can get more real estate by using two 30" monitors on your existing card. (8mb pixels vs 7)
  7. A cheaper motherboard that still works fine(especially if your not doing super duty stuff).
    Gigabyte P43
