Hi,

I want the original BIOS file for my Asus P5BW-LA mobo ("Basswood" ).
It's from a HP/Compaq machine.

Can't find the original BIOS file on HP's site, HP has only got a newer BIOS,
which I now unwantedly have in my system.

Anyone can post the dumped ROM or BIN?

Very, very much apreciated for any replies with suggestions.

Hi Flex4486,

First of all: thank you for replying.
Secondly: Yes you can help and I would appreciate it very, very much.

Here's how to get the BIOS file of the Asus mobo:

You need a flash utilty in order to save your BIOS file.
This flash utilty can be obtained at the HP/Compaq site.
The BIOS flash utility is packed in the update-utility and the links are:
For Windows XP:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc [...] =pv-54525- 1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3307509&os=228&lang=en&printable=no
(IMPORTANT choose "download only", otherwise the utilty will run to update your BIOS)
For Vista:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/soft [...] p26920.exe

When you've downloaded one of these files (the sp26920.exe or sp26970.exe file) to a chosen folder,
you got to extract the file with an archive program like WinRAR or WinZIP.
DO NOT EXECUTE sp26920.exe or sp26970.exe file, because that starts the update-process.

Now, to use the flash utilty for backup, run "winflash.exe" (Vista) or "Flash.exe" (Win XP).
To save your current BIOS to disk with the flash utility choose from the menu:
File --> Save Old BIOS.
Then a dialog window will appear to save the BIOS-file (default name: "awdbios.bin" ) in a
chosen folder to yoour disk.

Many thanks in advance for your efforts.

Kind regards,
